Located at the very northern end of the Sunshine Coast, our establishment provides the very best in relaxed fine dining, with an exquisite menu designed by executive chef David Bowes. A beautiful view of Okeover Inlet nestled among the edge of the Coast Mountain range is the backdrop to your visit at the Laughing Oyster. Often our customers find themselves spending several hours enjoying the surroundings and outstanding service. We pride ourselves on presentation, and will do everything we can to make sure your visit is an unforgetable experience.

We also provide catering services upon request, and the Laughing Oyster can be booked for your special events. We also feature a fantastic buffet every Wednesday evening! Be sure to drop in and try new culinary treats by David.

During the summer, we are open seven days a week starting at noon, with our last reservations seated at 8:30 PM.

Every seat in the house enjoys the incredible view of Okevover Inlet, but the most popular areas are always near the front window and on the deck. We recommend that you make a reservation, especially in the summer months and during holidays. Unfortunately, we no longer take reservations for window seats.

Okeover Inlet is quickly becoming one of the premier destinations in Desolation Sound. Don't be surprised to see many sail and power yachts cruising up to the nearby wharf during the spring, summer and fall seasons. Mariners are always welcome at the Laughing Oyster (being sailors ourselves), and we're always happy to share our inside knowledge on the best anchor spots in Desolation Sound. If you are cruising Desolation Sound, be sure to make a side trip down Okeover Inlet and visit us.

Good anchoring ground on the north side of the wharf is available, but winds in Okeover Inlet can pick up during spring and fall, so take care! As an alternative, you can always try to find a spot on the government dock.

Kayakers are also a major part of the traffic in Okeover, if not the largest part! Don't worry about what state of appearance you're in - kayakers returning from their journey through Desolation Sound are always welcome! The Laughing Oyster is the start and finish to many kayak trips, and we hope to carry on this tradition for years to come.

Ofcourse, there is a great deal more accomodation in Okeover Inlet than just aboard ship. For those enjoying a camping tour of the Sunshine Coast, there is the Okeover Inlet Provincial Park campground just five minutes walk north from the Laughing Oyster. To the south, there is the beautiful Desolation Resort. Composed of individually designed timber frame log houses, this unique resort boasts many outstanding facilities.
