This Restaurant is Truly a Gem!
With one of the nicest loactions and welcoming staffs I've come across in since I began my 10 year cooking career. They offer some items that are very "wasi basi" and others that will totally send your taste buds for a journey. I found my server was very accommodating and she knew the menu well. I had a chance to talk to the owner and he was a very down to earth gentleman who obviously puts his heart into his food.
I recommend you make the drive to this establishment ... it is truly all about the food.

Surreal experience, wonderful memories, great ambiance, great music, great food. I'm smiling just recalling this experience, even though it occured more than 10 days ago. We asked
our Sea Dream B&B host, Rossella, for a dinner recommendation, adding that we were true foodies. She immediately suggested Laughing Oyster, and offered to make our reservation. Turns out the
place was full, with a live band and buffet. BUT, they could sneak us in, to a tiny table on the patio. We had no idea what we were in for. .
Sure enough the parking lot was jam packed, but, there was one spot right up at the front, just waiting for us. As we walked towards the restaurant, we could hear the band in full swing, bluegrass style. Let me say, that usually my husband and I are very low key, very mellow, and not usually into bands and noisy places.
What a hoot! As the hostess showed us out to the patio, patrons would look up and cheer out welcoming greetings. Turns out we were the last guests to arrive, and since the crowd were mostly locals, they treated us like one of them. Then, when we decided to join the buffet line, the line of people all stepped back and demanded that we go to the front of the line!!
If you are in Lund, and want a feast of fun, be sure to include Laughing Oyster. The "Beggars Banquet" included spinach salad, butter lettuce with other mix greens, rice and peas, asparagus penne chicken in white wine cream sauce, absolutely delicious breaded oysters and dip, calamari that was cooked perfectly, breaded chicken, Coquilles St. Jacques, BBQ pork, garlic bread that wasn't your usual style....just an all round tasty delicious buffet.
The dessert of Tiramisu warrants a sentence of its own. We consider ourselves Tiramisu experts and if you've ever been to Il Vechhio in Penticton, well, don't tell Val but Laughing Oysters' is a match. Heaven.
As for menu fare at Laughing Oyster, if their buffet is any indication of the chef's flare with taste, texture and presentation, well, their menu must rank 5 star as well.
Well done to the chef, staff, musicians and locals - thanks tons from both of us.

Exceptional cuisine -Consistently the best meals I have had anywhere. The Laughing Oyster, run by David Bowes, who oversees every detail, takes pride in offering high quality fresh foods. Many of the herbs, vegetables and berries are grown on the property and the rest is brought in from high quality local growers. We recently had the Seafood platter for two. It was heaped with fresh oysters, mussels, clams, scallops, salmon, snapper and each item was exceptional. The restaurant overlooks Okeover Arm with a large covered deck. We frequently take visitors there who have eaten in fine restaurants in much larger cities and they are consistently blown away. It's not fancy or pretentious but it's definitely an ideal location for a romantic dinner for two.
We just ate there for the third time. The food was delicious and the service friendly and fast. The Steak and Seafood Buffet is outstanding value. This is where we bring visitors, including one who is very arthritic, and the staff are so helpful! Having eaten in restaurants in Vancouver, Seattle, Chicago, New York, London, etc., I can say that the Laughing Oyster competes well!
Lovely location, lovely people
We visited this restaurant with family as a small wedding reception during their buffet, and it was wonderful. Wine selection is great, the setting is beautiful, and the staff are pleasant and attentive without being too noticable. I will definitley go back!
The location is peaceful, wrapped in greenery, facing a gorgeous inlet scene. My waitress was very pleasant and informed. I had a fabulous Thai Halibut with Shrimp dinner... that
got better with every bite. Locally, this restaurant is the one they talk about.

Powell rivers finest dining, well worth the drive!!!!!!!!! My husband and myself have enjoyed this resturant for many years, and we have tried all resturants in powell river and
objectivley had more misses than hits, the atmosphere is welcoming and casual, the staff are friendly and informative, the food is innovative, here are a few favorites, the crisp oysters and
boullibase are my husbands favs followed by the pecan pie, my definite favorites are the oysters in hollandaise,( not on menu - you may request ) and katelins rack of lamb, followed by the crazy
chocolate, The oysters are very fresh from fanny bay on van island and are not too strong and never too large, wednesday nights is the best buffet if you would like to try a bit of everything.

The most spectacular night on the coast! What a night!!
My husband and I had earlier been kayaking in okeover inlet and had heard only the best of this little jewel nestled in the middle of no where!!
We visited in our boating clothes and were treated with some of the most outstanding service!
Starting with the delicious fresh bake bread and ending with one of the best seafood soups I have ever tasted my husband and I have brought it upon ourselves to make the laughing oyster a part of our summer plans for years to come!! To top it off, one of the servers even arranged for a employee to shuttle us back to our boat in Lund harbour.
The people and atmoshere that one will come across at the laughing oyster is one of true greatness.
See you next year Laughing Oyster!
